I keep seeing posts on T.Y. about Yamaha owners swapping Cat, Polaris and Doo skids into their chassis all the time. They aren't trying to get more reliability just performance.
However, we all know that Yamaha, because if its quality and engineering, has the most reliable parts. So, I am wondering if the riders of other brands ever swap Yami parts into their sleds for reliability? Or is it to tough because of the metric parts on Yamaha's. Anyone ever hear about Yamaha engines getting dropped into a Cat, Polaris or Doo chassis?

There was the thread last year by a member who put a yamaha motor into a cat (I think) over in Norway. I might even have the thread saved. He made an awsome one of a kind sled.

People put other skids in yamahas, to replace the proaction mainly, because the the yamaha skid is prone to breakage, esp the front W arm. Also, the proaction skid is very heavy compared to other brands. So those that do this ARE really getting more reliability.
Every brand of sled uses metrics now, and not SAE, for bolts and whatnot, although it pays to double check before trying to thread a metric bolt into an SAE tapped hole.
Even Polaris' Wisconsin built liberty motors are metric, cat uses suzuki (metric), skidoos are Rotax which are austrian.
