Hey guys I was just wondering what top speeds are you guys getting geared down to a 22, 38 on a 2001 srx? I just got the gear and getting ready to install it in my sled and was just wondering what you guys are getting?

22-38 ran 117mph real speed not ton the speedo. It was out of gear and satarting to over rev.

so those really good speeds for that gear so I think it would be worth it to do it to mine then. thanks guys.

on a stock motor? most people have a hard time getting 120mph out of the stock gearing, 23-38, so the 22 is alot better the way i see it!

The 22 is not alot better, but it is. I never had any luck with the Yamaha gears. I run 13W polaris gears in mine. The advant-edge helix's I run are cut to shift out alot more than a factory helix, so it pulls alot of overdrive. On paper, 22-37 is geared quite low at 8500. BTW, 127.1 mph is on radar. I never post dream meter speeds. That speed was with a trail track as well, and 144 1.25" chisels, in about 3500-4000', plowed ice, perfect conditions.

dont need mine to run 120 mph, 100-110 is more than enough for the racing going on here, i still do trail riding, but ALOT of lake racing up to 100-110, whats the top speed of 22-37 then or 23-37? trying to gain everywhere i can :)

Yes completly stock.

well guys I put that gear in today and not sure if it helped me. I got beat by an RX1. I had a 51/43 helix and 50 degree twist and my rpm's would go to 8400 rpm's and then rev up to 8700 rpm's on max. My primary is all stock.

Bullit, keep in mind just gearing your sled down is just gonna make it get where you're going a little quicker unless you do other "tricks" to make your clutches shift further. Your sled just gearing it down a tooth is never going to achieve any of the speeds listed above. The gear is just part of a list of things you need to do to make it all work together.

I'll give you an example, I just set up a stock, yes bone stock 01' for my neighbor. Stock gears, stock engine centers, stock length belt, stock jets, no machining of the clutches. In a measured 1500ft distance it ran 116.9@8500 rpms. Charlie thought he was flyin'. So I told him to take my 800 SRX for a rip to see what he thought of it. It has the same stock 23/38 gears in it and runs 8600rpms. He ran 127.1 in the same distance, same driver. While you'll say mine has a bigger motor, that is true, however, that will only make it accelerate quicker. Running at a 1 to 1 clutch ratio and being 100rpms apart the 2 sleds should be within 1.26 MPH of one another.

The difference is, all those other "little things" that give you more clutch ratio is what will give the MPH you're looking for when you gear down. While gearing down will get you into your overdrive ratio quicker, and accelerate quicker, going to a 22 takes 5 MPH off of your 1 to 1 MPH. So at that point you must do other things to get your MPH back.

hey 800 would you say I should stay with my stock gearing? I like my top end. This is what Im trying to achieve. I want to be fast on hard pack, acceleration and top end. What would you suggest? I got 114mph on the road with stock gearing but more then 1500 ft.
