If I remove the spacers from between the spider and the movable face this will do what?

The clutch will not close all the way cause the clutch spider is hitting the cover and stopping the clutch from closing all the way.

Also how do I adjust for belt clearance on a Comet CLutch.

Thanx

Any clue on how to ID the clutch that I have. Are there numbers on the clutch some where. If so where.
There is only one shim on this clutch and I dont think removing this will close the sheaves enough for a 1 1/4 belt. Did comet make clutches (102c) that could not be shimmed.
If I use any shims it apears that the clutch face is going to hit on the spider when it closes not allowing it to close all the way? Any idea.......
Also........... adding shims will close the sheave (Smaller width belt) and subtracting shims will open the sheave Larger width Belt) right. When adding the belt spacer shims does this just move the sheave in closer or does it move the spider back also?

Thanx

Any 102 will work as long as it A. Fits the shaft taper, and B. Has the correct offset. I don't think it should have more than one shim between the spider and the post, but if for some reason it's needed, you could get thinner shims. After it is correct, you can put shims between the spider and the movable face to adjust belt clearance. This is VERY important tuning as it locates the roller on the weight in relationship to when it hits the belt.
