Does anyone know a website that sells Ohlins for the Viper? I want to compare prices and get Ohlin model numbers.

thanks

Thanks ,the Yamaha site helped the most. I was bidding on ebay on some shocks. The piggy back rear I bid up to $300 and I am still not the high bidder. I stopped there. Not sure how much I should pay for used shocks. Yamaha claims $494 for that shock. The other rear shock sells for $361 from Yamaha. That bid is up to $132. I can't see buying one without the other though.

Not sure if the Ohlins are worth buying for the ProAction. Once a person looks at sticking $500 plus into that skid, you wonder if you are not better off just putting a different rear skid in it. I have seen new Expert X's for around $1100 on ebay in the past.

I had them on my Viper last year - they were nice, but like you said jman - $500 is a lot for shocks. I sold mine to concept carbon and betheviper and bought an M10 to put in. Still not cheap though. I'll let you know if it was worth it after I get it in and ride!

I have a set of rears for sale. they are way better than the ones on ebay. These where actual yamaha race shocks. Instead of 12mm shafts they have 16mm. they also are 46 mm bodies not 36. The center has rebound, and the rear is a piggyback with hi lo comp and rebound. I have a real heavy spring for the center too. $650 for all of it shipped to the lower 48. Maxdlx I'll post pics end of the week, I have to go to Georgia this week. M=

I actually bought the piggy back one on ebay, but lost the bid on the smaller one. Now if I can only get my paypal straightened out. The Paypal plus credit card I used on my paypal account expired at the end of the year and they said they sent me a new one, but I never received it. They closed that card and are sending me a new one. In the meantime, I went to my paypal settings and setup another credit card as my primary for now. When I try to pay on ebay, it wont let me. I called paypal and they told me to try the "more funding options" link when trying to pay. I did that and tried to pay using this new card. It says your payment has already been sent...but when I go back to ebay to the item I won, it claims I haven't paid yet. I sent the seller a message to tell him what happened. What a pain ebay can be sometimes.

the guy that had them listed is bruce shrader - he's AKA Pioneer Performance. Give him a call tomorrow.

thanks xsivhp...Crazy......I never gave that a thought. Funny I met him personally about 9-10 years ago at Haydays. I bought something from him by phone and he let me into the pits and I picked the item up at his trailer. Real nice guy. Anyways I straightened it out. I had a $90 credit balance in my paypal account from something I sold a few months ago. Normally when you purchase something over that amount, it takes those funds first, then puts balance on paypal credit card. Being I set up the new credit card today as my primary, it wouldn't let me do it. I had paypal send me the $90 balance by check to clear account, then tried it again routing paypal to my new credit card and it worked. What a hassle!!

I kind of wish I had gotten them both. I set my high bids and left the house for errands. When I got back I had gotten outbid on one, but not the other. Oh well. I am glad to see they are from Bruce as I now know they are from a very reliable source. He most likely did the rebuild. You couldn't find a better guy to do that.

Hey Journeyman, you lost the Ohlin Centre Shock to me!! I wish I got the rear piggy back one too for a buddy (good price). By the way, what was your max. bid for the piggy back Ohlin?..just curious...

I got a new Ohlin w/o the piggy back in October on clear out price of $200.00 Canadian for my 2004 MNT Viper and had the coil spring acid dipped to strip the yellow and powder coated liquid silver metallic.

Seen some GYT's and new Ohlins for Yamahas on EBAY again.

My high bid was $320 on that shock and $165 on the one you got. You got me by $2.50 lol!! I talked with Bruce on the phone today. I told him i was sorry for all the confusion trying to pay him. I knew that card for paypal had expired, but I was so busy in December with work, I never got around to getting it squared away.

Bruce did say the shock I got will make the largest difference in ride. But I wouldn't mind finding the other to finish off the package.

I may be selling that shock. I never installed it and it still is in the box. Stay tuned. It is in perfect condition.

I was in the same boat as you--I had the rear Ohlin shock only, and sent my center kyb to Bruce to be rebuilt and re-valved to my weight-- it made quite a nice difference
