seporating hand and thumb warmers on my 98 srx.....heres what i tried...cut one wire going to thumb warmer joined another rheostat in between the cut wire.....worked for a month or so then burnt the rheostat out....is there any other ways to do this??? tried cutting power wire from hand rheostat to thumb and taking power from the dimmer switch to another rheostat then to the thumb warmer worked barely got warm....could a add a resistor in between the thumb power wire....hands get cold and thumb burns off

Did the following to my wife's 2000 SX500R. I had an extra aftermarket thumb warmer kit in the garage. Took the HI/LOW/OFF switch from the kit, mounted it next to the single heater knob on the sled. The following is from memory, I did this soon after the sled was bought new Jan '01. Wire from switch to stock thumb warmer was cut and run through the HI/LOW/OFF switch. Now when it's on HI it's hot just like it was when stock, she can also turn it off and when it's on low the hand grips get hot without melting her thumb.
