Attention, SLP cannister, bad rub on case!!

Maybe this has been brought up before, but I haven't heard of it. Took my SLP pipes and can off to check my harness under the motor. I noticed that the SLP can has a short, extended bracket on the back side of it with a round rubber/protector riveted onto the end that rests against the case of the pull rope cover. The rivet is in the center of the rubber protector and sits flush with it, instead of being recessed so it can't rub on the case.

THE RIVET ON THIS HAS STARTED TO WEAR PRETTY DEEP INTO THE PULL ROPE COVER.

Just thought that everyone running SLP pipes and can should check for this to make sure their cover doesn't get a hole rubbed into it.

I had the same problem I cut 2 square junks out off radiator hose and jb welded them together outside 2 outsde so they curled out then I counter sunk the rivet. It tweaked the angle of the can a little but a little black rtv sealed it up.

I plan on counter-sinking the rivet & then filling in the hole with some high-heat silicon, then use a heat gun to get it to set up.

Trust me, it pretty straight forward. The part of the can that has a bracket with a rubber cushion on the end that's made to sit against the case of the pull rope cover has a stupid rivet sitting flush with the "protective" rubber end. It needs to be counter sunk.

I went back over to work on my electrical problem and fix the rivet that is rubbing. Once I looked at the can and where it is rubbing I immediately noticed that it is the cover of the pull rope assembly that it sits against. I guess I had all my attention on finding the electrical gremlin, sorry for saying it was the case of the motor. At any rate, it still should be addressed. I edited my previous posts to be more accurate.
