Seems like I have a clutching issue with my 2000 SRX. It has been ported by race logic. At WOT the sled only pulls at 7900-8000 rpm. I'm thinking it must be a clutch issue. The sled has some clutch work done. I haven't had an opportunity to check out exactly what is in the sled for clutching but would the low rpm be typical of too much weight on the primary? As far as I know, this sled should be pulling at 8300-8500 rpm at WOT. Also, does porting change the max rpm or the rpm at which the sled makes the most power? I have an older 98 SRX and it seems to pull harder than the ported 2000.

Gather some info,
Primary; wt arm, wts & location on arms, rollers size, pri-spring color?
Secondary; spring color, wrap & helix?
Any sheaves over drive?
engagement & shift out rpms?
belt deflection, C.C. & offset confirmed?
type belt...oem or aftermarket?
rider wt?
track?
purpose for the set up...trail, lake, race?

Turk or Mrviper will chime in...cheers

If you can give out your exact primary/secondary/gearing set up it would help to narrow it down.

I'm hoping being off that much in RPM means I'm down on HP because my 2000 ported SRX doesn't feel any quicker or more powerful than my older stock 98. I wonder if anyone has dyno number for a race logic ported motor?

I know how much clutching that sled will pull, set up a few of em. i am assuming your pv,s & cables are fine. alltho you are adding hp they pull similar clutching to a stocker.

MIKE GOOD TO KNOW, JUST FINISHING UP MY PORTED 2000 SRX I DID MYSELF. STILL RUNNING STOCK RPM RANGE, GONNA START WITH THE H/C SET-UP YOU , DON, AND ALLEN GAVE ME. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I was thinking of just swapping the clutches from my 98 and giving it a try. I assume they will bolt right on. I will also check my PV's. Turk, I'll check on my clutch setup and let you know tonight. Thanks!

why swap...still may not work. Just find out what is in there now and figure out what is going on.

Well, I was thinking that might rule out something else as the problem. If it pulls great with my 98 setup, which my 98 pulls at 8400, then it is more than likely a clutch problem. It it doesn't then maybe something else is going on. I could be wrong on this though, just something I thought might help. I'll check on my setup first.

I did a little testing this weekend on mine. When i launch, the rpm's go right up to 8500 but fall off to 8000 to 8100 on wide open throttle. Orginally i had my secondary wrap at 70, so i dropped it down to 60 and tested and the rpm's only went up to 8000 on launch and just stayed there. I then went to 80 and got my rpms back on launch but i think it is still falling down to around 8200. I think what i need to do now is add more weight to the tips (heel clickers) to bring up the rpms to 8500 with my wrap at 60.

oh ya thats a doosy huh...LMFAO!!!, 2000srx and buffalobob, 800, are like a bunch of old ladys in a sewing circle, sure does keep ya busy worryin about me doesnt it....LOL!! John at race logic (used to work for bender by the way there Bob!!..LOL)did do 2 engines for me back in fall of 1999, it was a 1998 srx and a brand new 2000 thundercat. Its when I just got started into racing, did pretty good too as you can see by the results...lol. By the way, I also have had a engine built at hauck too, that ought to really fill your heads, theres some more rumor material for your sewing circle. :wel:

Wow, somebody's a little aprehensive.

2000 was nice enough to give you a referral and states to the member that you are familiar with the product and backs his referral with fact?

What's funny about that?

Hey Don, maybe we could talk to Mr. Sled and he could switch out our member numbers..................
