Was wondering if anyone could offer their "two cents" on this one. Been asking others and trying to find what's the proper plug for this mean little beast. My Clymers manual lists one plug, the Yamaha technical update manual lists a totally different plug.

I bought the sled last summer from a guy who knows his stuff and he was running NKG B8ES--neither manual lists that plug. I was told that the power valve needs a specific plug or you could smoke a piston. Any truth to any of this?

I know the old stand by which in run in my 99 MM 700 is a BR9ES. That plug seems to foul out pretty quick in the power valve--had to change out on the trail and had put the wrong plugs in the carrier so that's all I had. I have put about 380 miles on the 98 running the B8ES and it seems to be doing great the way it is. But I sure wouldn't want to smoke an engine because of a plug!!

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanx in advance!

always run a br9ecs plug wont foul on you....you can also run a br9ecix which is an irridiun plug which will last longer

I'm going off a little bit of memory here but i thought originally the '98's
came with BR10ES plugs but had fouling prob's, so they switched to the
9's..

run a BR9ECS in that sled, and premium fuel ALWAYS!!!
