Hey guys,
I just got my buddy into snowmobiling and so he was smart enough to listen to me and by a Yamaha. The problem is that his clutch sometimes seems to stay engaged. He was having carb problems and the sled would stall. When he went to pull the sled over the track would want to spin as if the clutch was engaged. It usually frees itself once it gets going. I have never seen anything like this with any of my old sleds. I cleaned his carbs and that problem is solved but I don't know a damn thing about clutches. Can someone please advise.

clutch sticking
Sounds like the clutch needs a rebuild.

pop the clutch off(you'll need a puller)and go right though it,check for
worn out bushings weight's/rollars,springs etc., twins are hard on clutches and if not serviced for a wile you'll have alot of worn parts.
secondary should be looked at too
open it up and take a look..

I would be willing to bet that it is 100% your slides in the primary clutch. I think there may be like three of them. Those clutches are known to have problems with the slides swelling or melting. I would replace those and the springs while your in there. Had the same problem with 2 other Phazers.
