I finished the rebuild project tonight...I put some mixed gas in the carb bowls and it didn't take long to start. I let it fully warm up, it smoked alot for the first few minutes but it idles very nice, and both heat exchangers got warm so my coolant was circulating. After idling it for 5-6 minutes I pulled out the plugs just to take a look at things, and a small waft of smoke came out of the middle cylinder BUT I'm pretty sure it was just the engine oil that I used during assembly, I probably used too much especially in the middle cylinder. AND after I rode it for 10 minutes I checked it again and there was no smoke. So I HOPE everything's ok, I"m a little paranoid about this thing right now! lol.

I took it for a little ride, and WOW!! It's a completely new machine! I was spinning the 1.5" track like nothing, I experienced ski lift for the first time in my life.

Thanks alot to everyone that helped me with this project, I couldn't have done it without this site :D

thats great...don't beat on her to bad at first, keep an eye on them plugs
and use good gas 89 or higher always...

Great to hear. I felt the same way you did after I first did my own rebuild. Heck, everytime I hear a little tink and I feel like the sled is going to blow up!

Good for you, do some piston wash & plug checks during you break in, run premium for a tank or two...it will help with detonation... ;)!

Yeah I was paranoid for the first few rides after the rebuild. Just have to trust your work. I found that I took my time and looks like I did it right the first time so far. Complete rebuild from the bottom up really wasn't that bad. Just intimidating. Best of luck for ya.

both of you guys(rtysxv, venommod) did a great job!! look at how much you learned by doing it yourself. you wont be so afraid to dive in if a problem arises in the future now. Congrats, ride safe! :2strokes:

Thanks mrviper! It was actually fun doing it. A bit frustrating at times, but an excellent learning experience.

you'll find your self wanting to do another rebuild now...lol

well I've been holding off on the break in until we have better snow. We have rock solid drifts left over from last time it snowed with about 2" fresh on top so it's quite rough unless you find some new drifts. Also it's about 0 degrees F here right now with wind. I did get 2 short rides in, they consisted of warming the sled up then giving it a mild beating for awhile, checking jetting and then parking it. not much more than heat cycles. I think I'm set pretty rich with the stock jetting and I have a pretty good safety cushion even at these cold temps. I fouled a the PTO plug and had stuff leaking out the PTO powervalve weep hole because of the double shot of oil, so I went ahead and filled the tank up with gas to dilute it since I could see the oil level moved down in the oil tank. It's so much more powerful than before though, I'm really surprised that there was this much difference. Also I got to try out my drop bracket set up, and I'm really happy with it, I like how it looks with the skid dropped enough to make myself a new sig picture...haha...gotta love the John Deere emblem too

That is why it's so important to do rings every so often,to keep it fresh
and efficient and running at peek performance!!!!

sled looks killer, nice sig. ;)!
