HEy guys after i come to a stop the sled will idle at 3,000 rpm i have to quickly tap the throttle and it will come down to 2,500 rpm then it will come down to 2,000 after about 10 seconds at 2,500. I know my idle is a little high so i am going to adjust that but why does it hang? Has 130lbs across the boards and the carbs are clean. Any ideas as to what it could be?

I am fighting this ame issue. Mine developed when I put Bender pipes on my MM700. I haved tried many pilot/needle/pilot screw settings to remedy the problem. I am getting close but not totally gone yet. It would stand to reason that if it is hanging there is a lean condition on the idle circuit. This portion of the fuel circuit is controlled by the pilot jet/pilot screw mainly. Having said that all circuits do overlap somewhat. I would start by investigating the pilot/ pilot screw for any obstructions (dirt).

Let us know if you find anything..

It hangs because your lean on the idle circuit, try idling the motor
down to 16-1,650 rpm's, if that don't help(probably won't)pull carbs
off and turn out pilot(fuel) screws to 1 3/4 turns from seat, stock is
1 1/8...

it wouldn't hurt to spray some carb cleaner around the crank seals and intakes to check for air leaks. I had a nasty idle hang that I couldn't get rid of, and it turned out to be a leaking cylinder base gasket.

hanging idle

My uncle's viper had a hanging idle also. After driving himself nuts going through all of these checks he brought it in and they found it was from a broken motor mount. Is this possible? i found it kinda hard to belive since the thing wasnt eating belts.

I've had broken mount before and didn't find out until I was doing routine maintenance. I thought it odd that I wasn't going through belts. I did even blow one. I am not sure how a broken motor mount can cause the idle to hang. Unless belt load has something to do with it.
I am sure someone will chime in to shed some light on this...
