changed my belt to a new yamaha belt this past weekend I have an 02 viper. The new belt squeals when I am at idle and the squeal goes away when I increase the RPMS it ran very well all weekend 200 miles with the new belt except for that annoying squeal when idling any ideas? Yammi Nut

BELT TO TIGHT, YOU HAVE TO CHECK YOUR BELT DEFLECTION. YOU CAN ADJUST THAT VERY EASY BUY THE THREE SMALL SET SCREWS BEHIND SECONDARY. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Remove your secondary, on the back of it there are three 8mm bolts, should have washers on them. Remove the washers and put bolts back in, squeal should be gone. Keep the washers, you may want to add them later as the belt wears and gets narrower.
The farther in the bolts go, the farther apart the clutch sheaves are. The ends of the bolts also wear down, they have to be replaced periodically. When you put the new belt on it was wider than the old one you took off. This made it ride higher in the secondary, which pulled it tighter on the primary and caused it to squeal at idle. Do a search on "belt deflection", you'll find some good reading on it.

My viper did the same thing. I left it alone and it went away after 2 or 300 miles. Just took a while for the belt to break in. In the past i've tried to adjust deflection to get rid of the squeel but the sled slowed down from the belt being to low in the secondary.

That seems odd. If I adjust mine to sit flush with the top of the secondary, my track works like it should when off the ground and I don't have any squeal. Maybe the belt you had was slightly off in length, I've heard that oem tolerance on belts isn't exactly something to write home about, lol.
