97 XTC 600 flashing solenoid code?
What is the code for a solenoid for on this thing? Is it something for smart carbs? Or is there another solenoid on there? The code is 3 flashes then a pause then 3 flashes etc. and it says in the owners manual that's it has something to do with a solenoid. But I'm almost positive that it doesn't have smart carbs. So what do you think it would be from? Thanks.
Edit: This has something on the side of the one carb and the Yamaha parts fiche calls it a THROTTLE SENSOR ASSEMBLY. What are smart carbs exactly? Do they hook up electrically or what?

By the way you are describing the falts, I would have to believe we are talking about a Venture or a Mountain Max 600 with the Smart Carbs. The book says " 3 " flashes = Water Temp / Low Oil. Now if the light has a long first light and two short blips after = Air Temperature Sensor.

Are you sure you don't have smart carbs??
I know my 97 venture 600 does, as well as 97 mountain max 600's
fom reading my manual, the light is a temperature warning light if it does not have smart carbs.
the smart carb modes flash upon startup, indicating normality-self diagnosis IIRC. if it keeps on flashing after the sled is running, then you have a fault.
if you do not have smart carbs, it should not flash like that as far as I can tell.
btw, smart carbs look almost like a std set of carbs.

The reason I was asking about the thumb warmer is the only info I could dig up shows a 96 VMAX 600 fault code as the solenoids you are taking about. You are correct. These are not smart carbs. As for the solenoids, I am not sure what they are for. There are 2 of them though. If you look at fault codes for MM the 3 blink fault code if for a short or open in the thumb warmers.

Anything I've looked at for the 97 V-Max 600XTC is telling me no smart carbs. I have a 97 MM600 that has them but I can't find anything telling me the V-max 600XTC didn't. I could be wrong though.
