I'm in the process of rebuilding my buddies '00 srx. all 3 of the cylinders have some scoring. I know why it scored, so we don't need to talk about that matter. the center cylinder is the worst. I took a hone to all three cylinders and was able to get the pto and mag cylinders cleaned up pretty good. you can still see the scratch lines, but can't really catch your finger nail on them. seem to be cosmetic more or less. the center one won't clean up as good as the 2 outers did. there is only a few small spots were the scratches are deep enough to catch your finger nails on. I'm thinking of either buying a new one, or getting a good used one. I guess my main question is, could we put a brand new cylinder in the center and then use the 2 used ones on the outside? I know it would run, but is it ideal? wouldn't the center cylinder have more compression than the 2 outsides, even with all 3 cylinders having brand new rings? also, it seems like 70% of the scratching on all the cylinders is on the bottom half of the cylinder. you know, low enough were the rings wouldn't contact, because the stroke doesn't go that low, so I should probably be ok then maybe....huh?
