i picked up a used yamaha primary clutch for my viper, it has a number on it like @2 and it doesnt have the allen wrench screws that lock the slideing pin at the weight arm bolt in.. the viper clutch says @4. i think its an older srx clutch, is it basically the same clutch? it looks like it.

I think it was 99 that Yamaha changed to the tall covers. the springs are longer on the newer units, and they're getting to have more choices in specs. Go to www.maxximumperf.com and check out all the stock spring choices.

If that link doesn't work, it's in TY links. Good luck!

yamaha primary

any ideas for stock yamaha clutch on my 1987 exciter it kicks in at 3400rpm im thinking more around 4000 :? or should i just spend 400.00 on a 102c
thanks
Richie

I think Aaen has all the parts or a set up for ya. If you can get Olav on the phone, he should be willing to give you a set up for what you want. Richmotorsports can get the parts too!

I think 3500rpm is about right for stock, more like 3800 with a pipe. I had Olav whip me up a set up for an '88 Exciter with a Bender pipe on it, and it did EXACTLY what he said it would. I was quite impressed! The comet clutches are ok if you can't get a good Yamaha clutch, but I've never heard a compelling argument on why a guy should ditch the Yamaha clutch. the Comet's are high maintenance, just like AC's!

are u saying they have weights and springs for the stock clutch thats in my exciter, so i could just rebuild it ...your right i was thinking about 3800 rpm too any more info would be appreciated.. urls etc thanks Richie
