squish

which is the best method of measuring squish. I'm thinking about using a stock head with two layers of gasket or might even go with an aftermarket, such as peak 22cc and still use two layers, but wondering about the squish

You could use some solder bent in a L shape,stick it in the cyl. over
the piston pin,get it in far enough to touch the side of the cyl.,turn the
crank till the piston hit's the solder then crank it over it'll squeeze the solder into the thicknesses of the area(squish), pull it out and measure it..

I measure my squish by taking out sparkplugs, use solder(not acid core) and bend at a 90 degree about an inch long, it has to reach the cylinder wall,rotate clutch a couple revolutions, take solder out and measure about a 1/4 inch from the tip with a caliper, for a stock sled I don't go less than 55 thousands, for race it depends on what kind of race you are doing, I have been as far down as 32 thousands for drag racing and 44 thousands for 1000' radar runs!
