Well my viper has had issues since I installed it. I read that if I left the protectors in place I'd be fine it it wear down to it, well after 500mi or so it was still rubbing and it was annoying so I figured I'd take off 3/8" in line wear it'd rub. Well now i didnt make the cuts quite wide enough and its still rubbing so now I'm pulling off the track and cutting off the protectors. I can tell that just making those cuts made a big difference in traction, it spins more and just dont pull you back. So know theres my dilma. What can I do for more traction without changing the track, can I still run 144 in the middle. I'm debating on just leaving them and selling the track on here and just buying a 1" with 144 in the middle, will that be better than the 1.25" as far as hooking up?? Another problem would be that its still over revving. It'll hit 8600 and rev to 8700ish when revving out. Its also hard to break over 100 on the trails and somehow earlier this year I managed to pull 114 on the dreamo . The only thing I changed in the clutching is added 4.5 gram rivets in the tips and it helped some but still I have issues. Whats the best fix for this as I'm running broke here. Thanks

you can run 144 with a tight track.
Im running 1 1/4 shotgun with 240 1.45's no hitting with stock drivers

So if I pull the protectors and keep it tight I'll be good with 144 in the middle???

I would think you would still want tunnel protectors though?

Yeah thats the thing, idk what to do. It must just be weight transfer issues, looks like I need a different skid for next season

I wouldnt think that making those small cuts on the track would affect the traction that much but too me it did. What does everybody else do to get the r's down, should I loosen the secondary some, I believe the twist is 70 (stock) with the stock spring, maybe I'll try 60 and see.
I run 144 up the middle with 1 1/4 track and have had no problems. I also have tunnel protectors
What makes you think its rubbing? When do you hear it rub? If you cut 3/8" of the lug in line with the protectors, the only time it should rub is when you are off the gas or under light braking. Unless you didnt notch it wide enough. Should be wider than the front protectors by maybe a 1/4 each side and 3/8" deep should be plenty.Anymore than 3/8 and you run the risk of the studs hitting the exchangers!
Do not run a studded track without Protectors!

Well I cut the protectors off the heat exchanger and I took off tunnel protectors. It wore through the heat exchanger protecters anyways. Now That problem is solved but now I have trouble with it almost seeming like it ratchets. When I was on the gas through some bumbs, I hear almost like a bang and the track jumps, unless its slapping the tunnel? I did stiffen the front shock preload up a good have 1/2" and loosend the rear up maybe a 1/4", I dont think its bottoming out. Any ideas, btw it made it less likely for that sound to happen when I tightend up the track more. But I only have a 1/2 of slack from the slides to the track clips without weight on the track. Thanks

O before I pulled off the protectors it rubbed like a mother. IDK, I need to get this sorted out before the weekend as I have a trip planned.
You took the studs out too, RIGHT?sxr_700 said:O before I pulled off the protectors it rubbed like a mother. IDK, I need to get this sorted out before the weekend as I have a trip planned.

I dont have studs, I was thinking of adding them but decided funds wont allow. I cant figure it out, I've had that skid out more than I change my socks, its rediculous.
