my heated shield came with no directions! But it did come with a long wire and two connections on the end that look like the should be connected to the battery. Can i do that (connect it straight to the battery) if the wire is long enough? I just assume thats what they want me to do given the length of the wire and the type of cennectors on the ends.
I hooked mine up in the handle bars. To the circuit that powers the brake light (blue wire?) and to ground.Stuffed the wire under the pad and stuck it out by the dimmer switch. Zip-tie it nice and snug but not to tight or your can short it out like my neighbor did.

I have mine wired directly to the battery. I drilled a little hole in the tank cover and shoved it in from the outside. Make sure if you drill a hole that you don't drill it to big or the entire plug will fall through.
