O.K., The 1974 SRX440 that the factory teams raced, were probably the rarest of the Yamaha racing sleds, but compared to the 1976 SRX440, which one was faster?
My choice's would be:
1) The 1974 SRX440 sno pro sled
2) The 1978 SSR440
3) The 1976 SRX440
4) The 1971 SR433
p.s. this would be the four that I'd like to own!

MY MONEY BE ON THE RARE 74 BECAUSE THEY WERE LIGHTER. DUDE, VERY UNFAIR COMPARISON THOUGH, YAMAHA BUILT 6 OF THESE. THE 76 SRX WAS A SLED YOU COULD STILL BUY AT THE DEALERS IF YA RACED. 500 WERE BUILT. 3:16 (yammie tony)

78 SSR
77 SRX
76 SRX
74 SRX
I Doubt you could tune a 74 SRX to run with a tuned 76 SRX in a drag race. Are you talking ovals?

I never even knew they made a 74 SRX 440. Anybody got a picture? Are any of those 5 sleds still in existance?

I have at least 30 pictures of them but don't know how to put them on here. The 74 SRX was a factory only Sno Pro oval race sled. Very trick and supposedly no longer in existance.

Seeing that the 1974 was so rare ( only 6 built for the factory riders )
What would be your next choice?
1) The 1976 SRX440
2) The 1978 SSR440

Love them all, but "who" tuned it would have alot to do with it.
IMO, A good SR643 will run right with the best of them.
