I have a phazer that will idle only if the chock is on half way shut off choke and it stalls out. Pulled and cleaned carbs and pulled and rechecked for dirt or varnish. Pulled off th fuel lines to each carb and the lines continuiosly dumped feul out of the lines, is this normal.

I'm not an expert mechanic, but I've had a lot of problems with my carbs on my phazer (most of them my fault). Start with the simple things first. Play with your idle screw (the big yellow knob). It could be that simple. All the choke cables do is add more fuel to richen the mix in the engine so it starts easier. I would play with that first. Check to see if you did not screw it all the way out. Believe me, troubles with carberators are so frustrating when your left in the dark...

Your fuel supply to the pilot circuit is plugged. With the carb disassembled and upside down, there are four "towers". The big one in the middle is the main circuit. There are three small towers, the middle one is the choke circuit. The other small tower that has a rubber plug on it is the pilot circuit. There is a small hole drilled from the main circuit to the pilot circuit, that hole is plugged. I make a cleaning tool out of a straightened paper clip with a 90 deg bend close to the end. Also you need to adjust the pilot adjustment once it is all reassembled. The screw that sticks up near the engine side of the carbs. start with 1 1/2 turns out from lightly seated, then adjust in small amounts from there.
