I like lake running for top speed & am wondering what top speeds have been recorded w/ a radar gun or max speed hold GPS?? mild engine & cluthing I've seen #'s in the 116-118 mph range on radar. Afreind of mine w/ an 02 srx clutched & chassis efficient mods ( lightwheight brake hub/rotor, 8" rear idlers) w/ perfect conditions (1" of snow on ice) got a max speed record gps reeding of 126 MPH. are these beliveable #'s ?

I've had my 98 at 115 on speedo in terrible conditions, wasn't on it for all that long either, maybe 1/2 mile run from 90. I have no idea what kind of REAL mph I was going. I was on the lake, kind of bumpy, kind of a medium trail condition. Not real soft, but not hard pack by any stretch...

108 can easily be acheived in 1000 ft. I have driven an 01 srx through radar in 1500 ft at 116!!Mach -z the same day posted the fastest at 118.

My speedo reads 115 on hard trail pack, I can hit that within 2000 ft. 99 SRX hauck silencer , No Studs, Clutch work..

this sled was slighty modified, 8" rear idlers, taller gearing, heavy hitters, lightweight brake rotor/hub assembly, and tested a lot w/ several different clutching combos. It's easy for me to beleive because as I said earlier, I radared 116 on a clutched srx. Now that I have 1 of my own, I'm going to shoot for those speeds.

u want to get speeds of 126 mph ur going to need a blue printed chassi and gear higher than stock and put a tra skidoo clutch will get u higher miles per hour than the yamaha clutch as they have a 1and1/2 degree angle cut on the primary differenc than the yamaha which allows it to go past the 1to1 ratio and shift out to a higher ratio, the tra work really well on the big max4800 for speed runs been geting 12 miles per hour more top end in the 660 ft runs over the yamaha clutch.

Do you reach full shift out in 660? I'm gearing taller this weekend, and I reach full shift out w/ stock gearing. My chassis rolls quite well now, but hgave plans to make it better this off season. possible rolled chaincase w/ 2 10" drivers, & 8" rear idlers. Engine mods soon to follow! I'll carry my gps this weekend.

no studs is key to top speed , or rotating weight is !

ive put radar run on there were 2 srxs one went 115 in 1000 feet the other went 113 both sleds had some porting and clutching but stock exhaust and both teched stock bore etc

snow conditions last weekend no good on the lake (speed track w/ .500 lug) 5'' of new snow. Rained this week , then got cold. this weekend looks promising. I'll keep yas posted!

Its all in the setup.... depends on what you want to do with the sled..
Drag race.......Top speed lake runs, ...........Trail riding.... All different setups required, I like to go fast just as much as the next guy, but my sled only see's the lake maybe twice a year, Mostly trails and open country...
Be realistic in what conditions your will be riding most of the time,
OR buy 2 sleds one for riding and one for racing...=) :letitsnow

conditions o.k. this weekend, gps'd 113 mph w/ stock gearing . next is a gear taller & hopefully better ice. lake wasn't as smoothe as would have liked. I am going to get a new 8DN belt too. turned 8500 & 120 on speedo =113 real mph!!
