I am testing my coil for my 1999 phazer 500. I searched the forums but am to numb to grasp any of the posts on testing a coil. My coil only has the orange wire going into it so I took my digital multimeter and set it on the ohms setting then switched the dial to 3000. I plugged the red prob into the orange wire and the black into the spark plug wire( cap has been taken off ). The numbers dont move, no matter what setting I am on 300mV, 3,30,300,3000 or 30m10a. Is my coil crap? I does the same on both wires.

Come on I know there are some electrical wizards out there. I also tried putting a prob in each of the plug wires. Would that make the multimeter read anything?

we need someone with a factory service manual to show how to correctly test a coil on the phazer.

Exactly,, like horkn said we need a spec to go off or were just piss'en in the
wind..try your dealer for the spec if no one here has it..
