I bought a new crank from yamaha for srx it cost 900 but chipewa motors sold it to me for $750. Now even though it is brand new should I get it trued and welded?

I think its for a 99, at least that's what it says in his profile. It should already be welded from the factory if its a new crank.

98-99 CRANKS WERE WELDED AND TRUED UNDER WARRANTIE. BEING THIS WAS NEVER IN A SLED PROBLEY BEEN UPDATED. 3:16 (yammie tony)

i just put a new crank in my 01' and the big end rod pins are welded from factory only .i think they tightened up the press fit tolerances on thr main joints to cure the going out of phase problem.the 98-99 repaired under warrenty cranks had all joints welded.if the connecting rod pins are welded just check the crank for runout ,if in spec start assembling.

did any of the '99 SX cranks have the same problems as the SRX's? Mine is out of phase on my SX and i am wondering if it is a design thing or from it backfiring hard one time.

The crank I purchased is brand new from the yamaha dealer and it is not welded. Just wondering if I should check if it is true also get it welded. It is going in my 835 B/B asphalt sled.

It must be a NOS left over from '98 then...yes it needs to be updated..

Just curious. There's a shop that rebuilds crank's not far from where I live. I'll get them to make sure it is true and do the welding.
