Hi guys. I want to remove the tempa flow from my sled. I was trying to adjust it and ended up breaking the barb fitting right off the unit. To remove it can I just unhook all the vacuum lines and plug the holes on the carbs? If so what would you use to plug them? The screw was lined up with the dot and the previous owner is pretty sure it is still jetted stock.

because I broke the barb that the little vacuum lines hook up to. I think I am just going to silicone it back on and make sure it is airtight and leave it on so I don't take any chances with my motor

I remove them all the time, just simply go to the hardware store and but a rubber plug, the kind with a flange on each side, twist it in the carb cap and your done.

dont you think it would be a good idea to look at what size the jets are in the carbs rather then just assume what size is in there? then youd know exactly what its jetted for.

the piece that broke off is fitted on the actual piece so the only way to get a new piece would be to buy a brand new setup. I ended up putting it back together with some epoxy and silicone. I'm going to try and use it to help with my gas mileage. I will wait until the summer to rip the carbs apart and see whats inside. I don't want to risk anything and need my buddy to show me how to take the carbs apart.

Do I need to cap the carb where the vent lines from the tempa flow are attached? I talked to the previous owner and it is jetted to stock settings. The only reason he installed the tempa flow was for different elevations because he took it out west (lives in WI). I want to take it off now but am not sure what I have to do what I remove it. Thanks for the help guys.

Mr viper 700.... Why do you remove them all the time.... Do you NOT LIKE the idea????? Just curious??????

I remove tempa blows from sleds because they are always blown up! The tempa blows are good if your a 80yr old man who put puts from stop to stop. What happens most 80%+ of the time is guys install these things and then they are out ripping up the trails/lakes with thier buddies, they come to a stop sign after just running 70-80mph thru the trails/ lakes and have hot engines/pipes, they all shut off thier engines at the stop sign and decide what watering hole to go to for the next beer/burger.

After everyone decides where they are going its a race to get there, they all yank the recoil ropes and its wide open take offs. Well, what has just transpired is all that underhood heat has just told the tempa blow its 70 degrees out and it leans out the sled, its really 20 degrees out and the sled is running way lean, lean enuff to start burning off the front edge of the piston till the under hood temp again comes back down. This happens a couple times and old mr.squeeky visits you after the ring is exposed and catchs the exh port edge.

fixed a many sleds with this exact description, plus if your sled is jetted right, you dont need these things anyways. A good jetted/clutched srx/viper with single pipe can and will do 13-14+mpg all day long!

Thanks Don!!! I never looked into the theory behind tempaflow, but I have had words with the guy who designed it.. I LIKE the dial a jet theory,, although i think on a sled motor, it s unnecessary!!!! Maybe if your racing asphalt or grass,, i could understand the variance in jetting MIGHT give you that extra TENTH,,, but,,,,Here comes the AGE OLD DEBATE of when it's too much for a trail sled or not enough for a race sled!!! I think you HIT IT ON THE HEAD when you said that " if your sled is jetted right, you don't need these things anyway" Thanks!!! Gary Oles nosboy

if its any sled other then a viper they just hang into the bellypan, the vipers get hooked to the rubber spout on the airbox.

well the stupid thing broke again and i am leaving in a couple hours. I know what to do with the little vacuum lines but what do I do with the big line that runs to the top of the carb? Do i cap that one of just let it go?

1) the small carb vent line that was attached to the broken barbed fitting must NOT be capped and is hung free in the belly... (must breath freely)...

2) the larger hose that attaches to the top of one carb and to the screw-end of the Tempaflo, MUST BE CAPPED OFF...

I'm one of those 80 year old men who "putts" from stop to stop.... :)

thanks for your help. rigged it back together with some silicone and duct tape for the weekend. Put on 150 miles today with no problems but my gas mileage is only 6mpg. Taking that thing off when I get home tomorrow.
