Hey guys, My buddy has an Exciter that runs great but the headlight taillights, and tach do not work. I am assuming that it is all related to one problem but don't know where to begin diagnosing. Does anyone have any ideas or atleast an electrical schematic of the wiring that they could email me. It would be much appreciated!

There is a schematic in the owners manual if he has one. It could be the lighting coil under the flywheel. I think yellow, but should be the same color everywhere to the lights. Check for voltage at the connectors where it comes from the motor.

Hey PZ 1, By flywheel do you mean stator? I am not quite sure what the flywheel is other than a flywheel in a cars clutch system. Please advise.

The stator is under the flywheel, it is what your pull starter is hooked to.

There are wires leading from the flywheel housing, where the recoil is. An ohms check at the wire connectors will tell you if the windings are good. I don't have specs or wiring colors.
Or you will have to troubleshoot the wiring system for a broken connection or short.
Possibly could be a bad regulator.

could someone describe to me where the voltage regulator is located and what it looks like? I would like to help my buddy with his sled.
it is a little square box that is bolted to the underside of the left footboard,(the angled part )drop the left side panel and you will see it
