This belt is reccomended (by Some) for 01 SXR700, but the application charts spec out the ultimax XS instead, I just bought U3, PN 138-4432U3,
is this right or do you really need the XS ($30 more).

But they say that the softer compound grips better therefore less cluth slippage, less clutch heat and due to the better grip higher top end.

I've been running ultimax 3 belt for 4 years with NO problems. You've already got it so why not try it?

ultimax 3 is great for drag racing because it grips better off the line, but it WILL slow you down on top end about 5 mph in 1000', I use an 8ch for drag racing and an 8dn for radar run's, last week I ran an 8dn and went 98.5mph in 1000' versus an 8ch at 92 mph in 1000', it also went 90 with an ultimax 3, that's with a stock 500cc yamaha.

Right, this is what I meant. These are great for out of the hole but suffers in reliability and top end. XSIVHP, Glad you got long life from yours. I do keep one in my belt holder as a spare but I prefer stock Yami belts.
