I have a 2002 srx and I wan't to get more power out of my sled. I run 1000ft snow drags. It is stock other than reeds and clutching. I want the sled to look stock such as pipes. I am thinking about a big bore kit. Which kit would be best and what horse power will they make. Also how reliable are these kits.

I cant say which or who's kit would be better I have only owned one but my simmons stage one has been in my srx for years with no troubles and performs very well Iam very pleased .Retains stock apperance drives the cat guys nuts.Ice
How many sled lengths do you think I would gain in a 1000ft over a stock srx with good clutching. Can you find much of a difference with the 780 kit over 700.

If you get one set up right and get good traction you are looking at 8 to 10 sled lengths on a stock SRX and about 10 mph gain in 1000 feet - done right, big bores rock!!!!! ![Thumbs Up ;)! ;)!](https://totallyamaha.net/images/smilies/div20.gif)

4 to 5 lengths in 600 - set up right, good fuel, and warm them up good and you won't have any problems!!!

This big bore kit you are talking about, are you using after market pipes or stock. I want to use stock. CPR say they work well.

stay away from CPR, no support, very disappointing. Mrviper is the guy you what too talk to.
It comes down to how much $$ do you want to spend??
A ported 700 can run very strong, cheaper to build and less problem prone to fuel quality and some other minor issues, kinda like a plug and play kinda engine. They can make a very solid 155hp in trail form, can be up to 165-168hp in race form, using the stock pipes. More power like 185+hp is available with aftermarket pipes, case porting and lectron carbs.
A BB780 will make a good 165hp but with a little more torq., stock pipes and cdi box. They too can be trail reliable but are more prone to needing more attention to fuel quality, and warm up time. They must be fully warmed up before riding. The wiseco pistons used are a very hard pistons and are basicly harder then the cast alum. cylinder, so the slightest bit of piston rattle and it will break the cylinders, this is why you need good quality octane fuel for them and again proper warm up as the pistons expand at a faster rate then the stock yamaha powder forged units do. As long as these 2 things are strictly adhered to, they will be every bit as relaible and make very strong power!

What octane gas should I run and how long of a warm up should be needed. Should or will have to run higher octane gas. Also I am planing to get my carbs done and cdi box.

I would just ask those questions to the engine builder when you have it done. What is your budget?
