I cleaned my powervalves today on my 2004 Viper S. No
valves were pulled through, but all were very stuck after 800-900 miles.
I split the housings and was able to pull off the cables to clean them. But
when I went to put them back together I could not get enough cable slack
to get it back in. Dissapointed in how dirty they were with 100% yamalube.

This is where I totally screwed up... I pulled off the servo cover and still
could not get enough slack. I then made the big mistake of taking off the
screws off the metal plate that the servo is on, then pulled this out to
see if I could get more slack. I found a lot of little gears under this cover and
these got out of alignment before I could put back together.

How screwed am I ? How in the world do I know how to get the servo back
on with the gears lined up correctly ? Time to take it to the dealer ?

Thanks !

I used to have the same problem. After you get your sevo fixed up, switch to Amsoil & us Seafoam regularly, and your problems solved.

I looked at Port Yamaha site for Yamaha OEM Parts. Yamaha sells the servo motor as a single unit for about $200. I suppose I could order a whole new servo to re-install. Do I need to do this, or can someone tell me what to do to get my existing servo back aligned ?

How do you use seafoam per the previous post ? mix it in the gas ? I have seen recent posts that Amsoil oils is not much better than yamalub for the power valves.

Thank you

I don't think many members have done what you have,so hard to advise, you should have posted up and asked before doing that, hard to tell what's what over the internet.

if you want to post up pic's we could have a look..don't know what else
to tell ya...

couple guys on here parting servoed yami's. Also saw about 3 sets on ebay. I think one of them on here was like $75 or so.

I would get a different servo, you may never find a dealer who can put it back together for what a used one will cost. Maxdlx
