my srx is not running right. top speed is 120km in loose snow. could not rev more than 8000 rpms. gas consumption is very high too. what do you guys think?

check powervalves for pull thru; then compression test.

i already checked powervalves and all is ok. i will do a compression test in the morning. i was thinking the same thing. the thing is when i first left today it ran good for about one mile. it backfired a couple times and seemed like i burnt a plug. i checked for spark on all of them and they were all good. after that it ran like garbage. in the loose stuff it was a dog. so i went off the trail onto a dirt road and it ran alot better. ???????? i did 100km and it costed 40$ of gas.

If I remember the sled seemed to stumble on idle too. We pulled a plag and the electrode was almost touching, must of been bumped so figured that was the problem for sure but with a new plug it still ran like a bag of dicks.

And it before anyone mentions it he did try some gas line antifreeze and went through a whole tank of gas so water is out of the question

Sounds like a burndown to me. Hope he used isopropyl not methyl (gas line anti freeze) methyl can cause pistons to melt

check your reeds valve too if it backfire ...but sounds like turk says power valve

so i did a compression test and the results are 120psi pto side 120psi in the middle and drum role please bum bom bumb bom 20psi mag side. rrrrr. im on holidays next week. oh well it's better that it happened now and not then.

Awww no!!!!!,, that sucks, make sure you find the couse of the problem.

what happened. did it lean out. i think my rings broke off. but i will only know later. i looked in the spark plug hole and the piston looked alright.

here are some pics. the rings gripped on the exhaust side first and broke off. i don't think it leaned out. the other two cylinders are perfect but i will change the pistons and rings any ways. they are do. the sled has almost 14000kms on it. im happy it didnt go when i was on my holidays next week. i figure if i put everything new again i will be good for another 15000kms lol
