I have an '03 Viper that went for surgery this past fall to have a 136 extension put in. It was a Hartmann Inc. kit that went together perfectly. The kit included a crossover tube under the tunnel extension instead of a heat exchanger. Now that the heat exchanger is removed it is overheating at times. It was a very warm weekend here in Ontario but stopping every 20mins to pack snow on the running boards was a pain. I love the extension kit but I hate the fact that I lost my rear cooler. What can I do? Has anyone used a product called Water Wetter as an additive to the coolant. Would this help me?

Tom told me my srx cooler wouldnt fit and that the crossover tube would work fine. I told him I was going to make it fit. Took a little dremel work but I got my cooler to fit with the 151 extension.
Did you try it without the cooler first? Was it getting hot?

I have used water wetter (or ???) but cant say good or bad, BUT sounds like you need to reinstall a rear exchanger. I bought mine used I think it was out of a Mountain Max it mounts with 4 rivets thru the extension and has worked fine.
PS. you might beable to find a used Mountain Viper one? or buy new?

I have the same kit in my sled and Tom told me the same thing, maybe thet ok in the mountains, but not here.I just took my stock cooler and had the tubes cut off turned 90 degrees and then welded back on.I had to enlarge the holes in the side where the tubes go thru, but it was no biggie.I have had no overheating problems whatsoever with this setup.

Pretty much exactly what I did.SWEDE said:I have the same kit in my sled and Tom told me the same thing, maybe thet ok in the mountains, but not here.I just took my stock cooler and had the tubes cut off turned 90 degrees and then welded back on.I had to enlarge the holes in the side where the tubes go thru, but it was no biggie.I have had no overheating problems whatsoever with this setup.

I have the hartman extension with a MM cooler in it. Bender pipes and a peak head with 22cc domes. Rode it Sunday in 35* temps and didn't overheat it. I wasn't pounding on it but didn't have any issues at all. Well at least with the motor...

all stock Viper gaskets
My riding crew has a 700 srx (151/home made extension) that is used exclusively out west with just a crossover pipe and it will occassionally flicker the temp light if not in powder. I ran my 600srx (144 tracks usa extension) one weekend here in Mn with a crossover tube and couldn't keep the temp light off unless I really paid attention to what I was doing. I had to cut the extension but I made the cooler fit. Noever been a problem again.

Water wetter does work and it might be worth a try. You need a mtn viper cooler at the very least or if possible try to get that viper/srx rear cooler back in the sled. I got one to fit in my mtn performance extension. It took some work but it's in there and looks/works great!

Thanks guys for all your input! I think I will attempt to modify my stock Viper cooler that came out and try to make it work. I think this will be a job for the spring time when sledding is done for another season. Until then I guess I am stopping in every snow drift I see!

i'd also try the water wetter till spring and see if it helps. my 02 viper temp light would come on without it. since installed rear cooler, still use it as a precaution.

I've tried the water wetter and it seemed to freeze in cold temps (-25degreesC).
Good concept but not sure about cold temp operation.
