Hello, I have an 02 viper and replaced the stock .92 with a 1.2 camoplast ripsaw track, fully clipped. And since i replaced it, the slides no longer fit through the windows. Is there a way to replace the slides without pulling the whole suspension? Or is there a special technic to putting the suspension back in? It can be a real pain sometimes.

In doing this are you still removing the suspension? Or does this give a person enough room to slide the track over to slide the slides on and off?
Marty, I see you are from watertown, I actually live by Plato so we are practically neighbors.

No thats for pulling the skid....it takes the pressure off of the top bolts so you can line them up easier....
common practice is to open up one track window on each side enough to get hyfax through.

A buddy of mine had the same problem, he has a ice claw track. I just lubed up the windows, put the slider through and then twist it straight. worked perfect. Removing the suspension gives you and excuse to check everthing over, but if your in a rush this will work fine.

Hey I just figured out an easy way to do slides a few days ago. Well it's the easiest way I've found anyway. I took 2 big regular screwdrivers and pried the outer edge of the slide off back near the rear. You just pry it away from the rail with one of the screwdrivers, then with the other one you pry it a bit further, now you need to get the screwdriver under the rail prying down, once you get it to here while holding down with one screwdriver stick the other one in next to the first one and pry down, keep alternating screwdrivers and work your way back until the slide pops off of the rail at the back. Once it pops off of the rail you just turn the track while holding the rear of the slide to line up with a window in the track. Once you get the slide sticking out one of the windows you just have someone help you turn the track in reverse to peel the slide right off. You can get them off in less than 20 minutes doing it this way. It's super easy and if you have reverse once you get the slide sticking out of one of the track windows you can just start the sled and put it in reverse to peel them off. I've read of others peeling them off this way but I've never heard of anyone starting them off the rail with 2 screwdrivers like I'm talking about. Once you do one this way you'll never try pulling them all the way out through the rear again. Even if you have a puller made for doing this I think this is a lot easier. Try it.
i always pull to hyfay thru the track window and the rotate the track. been doing this for years i can can change my hyfax on the trail if i had to. it is about a 15 minute job. you just have to make sure you do not scuff up the rail when you pound back the hyfax. i use a brass rod. i have some friends that are new yamaha sled owners and they spent a whole night in the garage changing there hyfax. i came over a showed the my way and they could not belive it. if your hyfax will not fit thru the window you can trim the widow a bit.
