When I turn up all the electrics (grip, thumb, visor), .. the headlights dim, the display goes blank, and I swear there isn't enough power to operate the power valves.
I think I read or heard somewhere that there was a wiring problem with this model.
I am hoping that it isn't the stator.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated .. want to get it fixed before I am wrenching in the cold.
Thanx

I can check the Tech Update book but make sure your shield is no shorting out on you.

Thanx for the quick response.
Where specifically should I be looking for shorting?
I think I remember something about the harness underneath the motor?
Thanx again

if you have a electrice start model without battery this will happen according to a tech bulletin it does not have a smoothing condesor but if you do have a battery, I would check the harness under the engine and up in the steering area also disconnect your heated visor and see if that maybe the problem.

I never had the problem but some of us did it was shorting by the mag side or under motor and that shorting would have the same effect. What I would check first is where it is tied coming out of the stator side (MAGNETO).

Thanx for the replies .. it is the blue (no battery) model .. I will post here if and when I find a problem .. thanx again.
If I remember correctly it is where the wiring harness wraps around the carb. bank by the pull cord. Check the wires as they head toward motor.
