Hi guys. My girlfriend is buying a new helmet and is looking at HJC's. The salesmen told her that she won't need an electric shield if she has the double lens and the breath guard. I personally have an electric shield and have never had a problem with it fogging up. Will she be ok without an electric shield or will there be fogging?

Mine fogs and I don't have an electric shield. Not all the time but it sucks when it does it. I have an HJC CS-12 with the dual snow shield and the breath box.

I just bought an hjc and i hate it! Don`t have the electric shield as i have NEVER needed one before. But my problem with the hjc is if there is any powder snow at all it blows in above the shield and gets on the inside of the shield. Then your screwed. There seems to be an overly large gap between the top of the shield and the helmet which causes this problem. Just my 2 cents.

My wife and I both have HJC-CL SP with electric shields we love them. We have two snoforeces which where wore out. Then we tried the POS Ski Doo EXO400.. Used them one time and ebayed them.
I have friends that have HJC without heated shields and get by. But its always nice to never have to worry about fogging.

My HJC fogs or freezes too much, I have an electric shield but use it only when it gets real hard to see. I do not like to be tied to the machine. I am ditching the HJC full face for my HJC motocross helmet, with light sensitive lens in the scott goggles. Never a vision problem with that set up, it is a bit colder.

My wife has the HJC with the electric sheild. She loves it. You don't need the cord all the time.

I wish I was a electrical engineering expert. I would think a 12 rechargeable drill battery would power a shield for a long time. Then you cold plug the helmet into your coat poket, and be good to go. Be even better if someone engineered a long life battery just for this reason. Maxdlx

I could swear I saw a battery pack on ebay when I was looking for a heated shield for my modular. It looked like a "rigged" situation, but i don't know, I didn't look that hard.
