While searching for a carb for a restoration project,
I've discovered different numbers stamped on the
carb flange ( engine side )
Are these numbers useful in determining what make or model that they may have come off?
Someone once mentioned that Yamaha may have punched the three digit
prefix of the part number relative to that model, somewhere on or near the choke butterfly.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Those numbers do indeed identify the sled they came off...If you post the letters and numbers Im sure anyone can tell you what they came off....If they are 8f2 I will give you 5 dollars a peice for all of them you can find.(joke...very big one!) Hope this helps you out...Nick.

the 69-mid 70's carbs have the Model number stamped in the mounting flange. Later years are stamped in a flat area around the choke.

O.K.
So the GP-246F should have a "881" stamped on it

The GP-292F should have a "864" stamped on it

I have a spare Keihin stamped "867" on it
It's been rebuilt but I still need the glass tube float adjuster
with the little black rubber cap on the top of it.
