Just got out on the viper 2 days ago. Got the heavy hitters in the clutch and went down to do a couple runs. Got my rpm's right on the money and drove sled to garage. When i turned off the beast i noticed a 3 inch tear from the outside of the track inward. One question: i know long distance the track is little to no good and will break very soon but i was wondering if anyone has ever drilled holes in the track above and below tear and then zip tied or used leather straps to hold the tear together....and if so how long could i expect that baby to hold?
Was only wondering cuz the rat pack is going out saturday and i really really want to show this 800zr up. he keeps talking a big game about how hell wreck me on a drag....and i already beat 2 others this year with no worries. Thanks

It may hold up at slower speeds like 50mph or less but I would not want to be racing with a torn track. My buddy lost a track a couple of years ago on his 440 Jag on a lake, what a PITA that was! That sled was maybe 65hp at best. Imagine what a 120+ hp machine could do to that weak track. I would replace it ASAP.

If it blows out not only can you sled get damage, but so can you. A few years back a buddy on a 600 XT lost a track on a lake. It took out the entire tail section of the sled. (Seat, tunnel, skid) It also took out his back. Several operations and lots of hospital stays later he no longer can ride. Just something to think about.

yeah i had it happen last year to me on my 600 srx. took out suspension parts. Going 85mph and bam track hit me on back but fairly lightly. Kinda funny the sled just kept going and going riding on the wheels. Fair enough

you may also be able to get your track reparied....i did my 2 srx s this year....they can repair rips and broken lugs....gauranteed repair....i have approx 2000 kms on my sled no problems yet.... some other people may chime in on a repaired track....
