ok, i'm working on this '00 srx for a guy I know. i just got done installing some 10-56 polaris weights and the straightline performance conversion kit to make the weights fit. i was told this was a hot setup for a srx from the owner of a local performance shop, so I took his advice and bought the parts, but from a different shop because the other shop was way cheaper. i left everything else stock clutching wise....the only thing changed is the weights like I said. well, you can rev the engine up to 6000-7000 and the moveable sheave won't move over, so the clutch won't engage. this is telling me that the stock primary spring is too stiff and the weights can't overcome the spring. i don't know why though, cause i was told that these weight will be fine. on the gram scale they weigh more than the stock weights. i need to get this thing going asap, as this guy wants his sled back to ride the trails. i know we could just go back to stock and ride it, but then it would be $90 down the drain and I still want to know what the problem is. i can't really ask the guy at the local shop for help because i didn't buy the parts from him.

well it look like the preload of the spring is to mutch for the weight but make sure nothing block those arm to pivot ...

The primary weights are not moving as rpm,s are increasing. The weights are either installed improperly or the primary spring is a monster. Remove the primary spring & check to see if the weights have clear movement to full shift. What primary spring are you using?

Weights could be tucked too far and won't engage. Take a look at the underside of the pin area on the stock versus the 10-56 weights you have.

primary spring that i'm using is stock (y-w-y). what do you mean tucked too far? the weights move freely and I don't see how I can have them installed improperly. they install just like the yammi weights. like I stated above I do have the slp conversion kit to make the weights just "bolt in". the secondary is all stock too, if that matters and using stock rollers (15.6mm). its weird too cause there were a few others on here that replied to my thread on the 10-56 polaris weights and they said they had them in either their sleds, or a buddies and they work fine. I don't see how I can be having such troubles.

how much to grind off? do you have any pics to post of what i need to do? i don't want to just start grinding, as I don't know for sure how much and what not to take off and do.

sorry I didn't reply sooner. I thought that was covered. I bought a set of Goodwin weights for my srx & they where polaris weights w/ the tip modified.I use those weights as a stencel when i grind new polaris weights for my sled. You must be careful not to grind too much off the tip or the primary could lock open -no good!put cover on w/o spring & push threw its cycle Roller must not run over end of weight. Not to complicate the subject, but I modify these weights All the time to acheive better perf. must have a gram scale.
