ANY OF YOU GUYS, HAD THAT WIRE HARNESS RUB THROUGH ON A 2000 SRX. I HAD PROBLEM WITH MY TORS, I BYPASSED THAT NOW WHEN SLEDS RUNNING, HIGH BEAM ONLY AND TACH WORKS AND GAUGE POD, WHEN I HIT SWITCH TO TURN HIGH BEAM OFF, HEAD LITE GOES OUT AND TACH QUITS. ANYBODY !! 3:16 (yammie tony)

make sure its not rub in the opening of the hood where it bent went u close and open the hood

Also check your headlight bulb itself. My low beam shorted out and it was making the tach go crazy at idle, didn't notice the bulb till dark. Changed the bulb and everything is back to normal.

Its the harness under the engine rubbed thru, unhook it up at hood hinge, tie a sting on it, release the black bend over clamps down in front of engine. Go over to recoil side of engine and pull the harness back up and out from under the engine, youll find the rubbed thru wires, you have to yank it out a good foot and a half. Wrap each wire in tape then place in black convolute tubing on it, repull under engine via the string you tied on the plugs.
It is easier to do without the airbox on the sled.

HEY DON, JUST SO I KNOW, THERE IS NO WAY BYPASSING THE TORS WOULD AFFECT HEADLITE AND TACH ? HAVEING GREAT RESULTS WITH PORTING WE TALKED ABOUT IF I CAN GET THESE GREMLINS OUT. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Just fixed mine too, same as Don said. I re-routed mine somewhat off to the side of the recoil housing, mostly because it was a tighter fit since I had to tape all the wires. It seems good now. I too tried the TORS but it did nothing. Good luck.

my friends son just went thru that same scenario, it was chaffed under the engine as well

my 01 had issues like this....wire under engine. Stupid that they run it under there....I rerouted mine along the clutch side of the engine wrapped in conduit.

UPDATE WAS DONE TO 01 MODELS. THERE IS A TECH BULLETIN IN 01 MANUAL. REP DID TELL SOME DEALERS THE 01 MODELS SHOULD BE FIXED , BUT ''. I BOUGHT MY 2000 NEW AND NEVER HAD A ISSUE UNTIL NOW. WHISH YAMAHA WOULD OF RECALLED THEM, WOULD OF SAVED ME ALOT OF BROKEN KNUCKLES. GUESS ALL THEY DID TO 01 MODELS IS REROUTE HARNESS AND WRAP IN CONUIT. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Here is another pm thing to do when you are under the hood. The coolant line that runs from the jug down to the waterpump will rub against the bracket on top of the recoil and under the moter mount and cause a pin hole on higher mile srxs. The braket need to be bent open more and stick a rubber protector in there.
