What Happened? Can some one tell me?

Hi Guy's,

Just over a week ago I was riding in the Barrie area crossing a lake and I had a little miss. Didn't think to much about it, then I started to smell coolant but I thought I was just smelling thing(all in my head). Well as I started to get off the gas and head off the lake to my surprise a loss of power. As I made it up to the road there was alot of smoke and sled had no power, well open the hood and BINGO this is what I saw(sorry I pulled it out and it's on the floor)

The blue cylinder has a whole in the block, connecting rod is MIA. She still ran about 4km to get me off the lake.

Will be parting out any good parts on the motor if anything is left....lol...

thats not hot, LOL i urned the jugs on an edge greenish purple once I got it so hot. It wasn't even mine, but it was under warranty. Thank goodness. I'd sy it is toast. Maxdlx

from the description it lost a rod bearing, then lost all the coolant as it punched a hole in the case, causing the other 2 cylinders to run extemely hot.

I would put that motor on a mantle or frame.
Find another motor and go from there.

Nice to see your so positive about the whole thing. Id say with that many miles you got your moneys worth. Did you put all the miles on it youself? Good to hear it got you back home or at least off the lake.

There was a fresh srx 700 motor on ebay starting at 200 $, Sorry dont have the link..

Its amazing it ran another 4k ...

Well.....you sure as hell can't complain about 17000miles.....I had my 600 do that to me because someone put the heads back together with rtv before they sold it to me....no light and no more running!! At least you got one head that is blue all mine look like black viper heads..LMAO...Good luck...RR
