Stator

When the three yellow windings on the left side look burnt brown like that one its all over. Have seen that many times.

^x2 the 3 yellow windings that looks crispy brown is a good sign it's smoked. Just what the last 2 of mine looked like.

the 3 yellow windings look perfect on his

Does yours not work at all?? no spark or anything??

mine had little spark after it blew up and now nothing......checkeed all wiring....I have one coming over night to me so will chek it out tomorrow.

There is a way to test these on the sled with a multi meter. or check for continuity.

These things have a mind of their own. They can go bad without warning at the most inconvenient time.

A few years back, a frient of mines stator left him stranded on the top of Mt. Baker. Think he was on a 600 XTC twin or something like that. Had to be towed down to the parking lot.

$157 for a brand spankin new one here http://www.teamalpine.com Mine burnt up last year and I replaced it with a used one (supposedly 3000 miles). Well the other weekend I pulled over on the side of the trail to take a leak, went to start my sled and.........drum roll........................no spark. I paid $75 for a used one and it lasted less than 1000 miles. I broke down and bought a new one this time, and I suggest you do the same.
