I have been thru this sled a few times. 99 SRx 700 When I get on the gas not hard but medium about 40 mph I hear a slight wine and a hum kinda like a too tight track, Or a brand new sled , Then it goes away..If I romp the throttle hard You never hear it.
When I look at my secondary, ( It is with in spec) the bolt that holds it on the shaft spins off center kinda wobly looking. I have replaced the track, all bearings that were bad in track wheels, Drive shaft bearings, Jack shaft and chain case bearings, only 350 miles on new, CHeck track 3 times, perfect alignment, not too tight, also with in spec. Brand new OEM belt, Cleaned Primary and all is good in there also, I checked my chain tension thinking maybe it was too tight But I dont htink so, Tighten finger tight and lock the nut. new chain case oil sythetic... Cant think of what it could be, No performance difference... Just the noise.. ANy Ideas Guys???

I don't know if it is the problem but i run my chain case chain finger tight and back it off 1/4 turn.....finger tight is different for many people...Make sure it is not too tight
Put the sled up on a stand and see if you can hear what general area it is coming from and post back!!!Good luck

Good point I might have stronger than average fingers... I will try that.
I would guess the chain would ( grow) some when rpm's increase, Maybe I still have it to tight.

Not really, If I had to say more toward the chaincase side, But my Brain might just be playin tricks cause I know the chain case is over there??
I am going to try adjusting the chain again, then running it on the stand to see if I can narrow it down more od if it goes away..
Thanks guys
Ok, adjusted the tension again on the chaincase, I had it too tight, I tightened it down finger tight then backed it off a 1/4. the slight wine is gone, But now I think I might have a bearing some where starting to go, I hear a little growl at times, Good summer project.
I get a slight howl with mine at low speed and it goes away. It used to be alot worse, if found the problem, I had polarass wheels on the front 4 wheels of the skid plus the pioneer wheel lowering kit and the wheels were to low and that caused a major howl and vibration. I took the kit off.
