Hello - need some advice/input/schooling.

I currently have a '02 SX600R (which I love by BTW). How would that compare power wise to a '08 Phazer with the 500cc 4-stroke? I am thinking of getting one (or two) but unfortunantly don't have the chance to try one out on the trail and test ride.

Any input or comments would be greatly appreciated!

They are fun sleds, I was out this weekend and rode one for about 2 miles......I think that your 600 would take it. It is a hole different animal that four stroke thing.....They sound like a four wheeler......You sit up a lot higher and say good buy to oil. I had it up to 78 mph on a straight away and in a 120 mile ride the guy got 20mpg taking it easy. It all depends on what kind of riding you do. I personally would not buy one to have as my only sled...But they are cheap, fun and they get the job done. Oh and the fuel injection is cool also. I would wait to see what yamaha does for 09. Then I would test ride one or demo one and see what you think. Just my 2 cents....Good luck ...RR

yeah, the phazer has nice low end grunt, but it lacks top end speed. I guarantee that 600 can do more than the 80mph the phazer can muster.

Heck our 600 twin venture can go 80mph even with 2 up seat, and the 2 up lower gearing on it.

I have riden the Phazer on a couple of occasions and had a blast on them, in fact I plan to purchase one just to play around on, however it would not be my primary sled for the type of riding I like to do. Your 600 will take it on the top end, but get into the bumpy twisty stuff and that Phazer will leave a grin on your face.

I really do a mix of riding. When with the wife it's usually just tooling along the trail and putting on 100-150 mile a day for a day or 2 in a row. When with the dudes, it's all different. Lake racing, ditch banging, off trail messing around. I do like the more upright riding, at least it seems more comfortable the little time I've spent on sleds of that style.

Right now I'm leaning on getting a Phazer for the wifey and a Phazer RTX for me and keeping the SXR 600. Or sell the SXR 600 and get myself a Nytro or Apex or Vector ..... oh the decisions!!!

I would hands down move up to a apex or a Nytro....before I bought a Phazer RTX for a primary trail sled. When I was out for the ride I felt like I was beating on it to much when doing 60mph.....I like the idea of the new nytro xtx.......again just my 2 cents.

i went from a sxr 700 that was pipe, clutched, head shaved , single layer gasket and reed spacers. i love my phazer. ive seen 85 across the lakes. my sxr was geard down and was only good for 95 anyway so i realy dont miss the top end. if ur goin to be on lakes alot then u might miss it but my riding is all tight twisties and bumps galore. the suspention in the bumps is just incomparable to the proaction.

based on my ride of the 08 nytro rtx and the09 nytro xtx, i would go either of those directions first. The nytro is a lot like the phazer, but with the power you will want.
