I wondering about differences at engine, clutch and carbs at 78,79 and 80 srx 440. 80 got oil injection and butterfly carbs. But see that cylinders are the same at 78,79 and 80. but why less hp in 79 than 78? Is there any possibility to built an 79 and 80 with same effect as 78?

EVERYBODY WILL HAVE A DEFFERENT OPINION HERE BELIEVE ME !! 78-79 WERE BASISLY SAME SLEDS EXCEPT HEADS LIKE SNO PRO POSTED. 1980 SRX IS SIMILAR, BUT THERE WERE AFEW CHANGES. BUTTERFLY CARBS, DEFFERENT SKID, OIL INJECTION, etc. ONE THING ABOUT THE 1980 SRX WAS AWSOME LOOKING. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Did have som 36mm carbs for a couple of year ago, some did say that they came from srx. Did any srx had vm36mm with powerjet? did also se at partsnumber that the crank number was different, 78 had the same number as 77 srx 8F2, 79 had 8J0 and 80 have 8k2.
78 did never come to Norway, so therefor i ask, and is very interresting in all information about differences between 78 and 79.

See also "srx models" topic.

I too love the looks of the 1980 SRX, Sold mine 2 years ago with a couple sets of spare heads..... Just cant remember the PN#. The little thing ripped.
On a side note I wanted Yamaha to do a BLK & GOLD VMAX-4 when they made them....... Woulda been titts!

3 years ago I missed out on a couple SRX's & a ton of parts for $2000.00, A guy up here by the name of Jerry W. (Not giving up yet) raced the white SRX's & still has two of them. The one runs like 10,000 rpm race pipes & makes your ears feel like they are going to bleed..... Loudest sled I have ever heard!
He still has manuals galore, Factory EFI's that never worked for crap from what he said, Clutches, Hoods, Suspensions & Many motor parts & parts all stuffed & filled in old mobile home. I seen him this summer & he said I still have first dibbs when he gets rid of all of it........ I think I need to make a call again
