My brother bought some carbs to an 97 vmax600 at ebay, flatslide 36mm. The Ex 570 has today butterfly from 87 ex.
Do he have to change jetting to use those flatslide? Or can it be used as it is direct from the vmax 600?

If i remember correctly, the jets need to be changed as well as a handfull of other parts inside the carbs. I think the choke has some changes too. Go to a parts catalog and compare part numbers with a 93 Exciter SX and find the ones that don't match up.

Thanks for answer. Have seen at the 93 sx carb parts. But as i see: The sx had 38mm og vmax had 36mm. The 93 had a much more portet engine and some other changes. See that 36mm had 151,3 jets, and think 38mm had 155. didnt the 97 vmax had about 85hp, the 92 ex 75hp and 93 sx 92hp.

I never put 600's on an EX, but I do know that the tuning components, needle, nozzle, slide, are way different in the SXEX than the 600, also, to make that change you would need a new throttle assy because the stroke is different, as well as the SX throttle and oil pump cable.

bought a 87 with the sx carbs test rode it and it was way rich! pulled carbs of and getting them cleaned and installing a psi pipe . will post results when done, probably wont be for a while though.

you can only use the 93 sx or the 94 vmax throttle block

why is this? i'm running flatslides from a 94 vmax 600 on my 89 ex570 and i'm pretty sure they are 38mms. whats the reasoning you cant run later years?

i believe the difference is in the pull stroke ,my throttle has to be almost 1/2 throttle before the carbs start to open. was told only 94 and the 93sx would work. looked up on the fiche and 94 and 95 are different p#,s but never tryed it.(i am talking about the throttle block not the carbs)

oh ok you mean the throttle lever assembly with the kill switch? the assembly i'm using is from a 96 vmax XT, i think the lever itself is the stock exciter lever. it seems to work ok, the throttle cable is from the xt as well, only difference i noticed is the cable dosen't clip tight into the lever, i'll have to get a lever from a 96 to match it i suppose. it never falls out, just a bit loose.

as far as I know the vmax 600 uses TM38. the vmax 500 uses a TM36, i have a set off a 94 vmax 600 and they are 38mms. i just have to figure out exactly which parts i need to change to make the exciter run on them.

My carbs is 36mm, when bought they it was writen that they was taken from an vmax 600 97. But when got they, they where 36, but seller did not tell this, my foult. I have now put 38mm roundslides on it, 92 mod. So i will only keep this in my garage.

Have been very pleased if you could tell me what parts i need to fit the exciter.

i just ordered all the exciter SX internals for the carbs, you'll need different needle and nozzle you might be ok with the jetting, you'll be able to at least get it running and tune from there. with the stock vmax 600 needles and nozzles it will fall on its face when you try to open the throttle, way too rich for the EX needs.
