SRX let me down first time ever

Anyone ever have a jack shaft break before? It broke off just behind the bearing...see pics.
I'm thinking it's mrviper700's fault for making too much power from his port jobs. :rofl: Just kidding.

Any input?

Correct me if i'm wrong... but that sucks LOL! Seriously though, have you checked out that bearing since it failed? Other than a bad bearing I really don't know what could cause it to just break off like that.
 
There was a post about this happening on a viper awhile back in the SRX/Viper forum..you might find more info there
 
I did find the post about this in the SRX/Viper forum. I had never seen or heard of one of these breaking. This broke under the air box about an inch from the bearing. There is rust powder around the bearing...the tell tale of a bearing going bad. I checked it as part of the pre-season maintenance. It still feels good and doesn't look like it got hot as Ding points out.
Oh well. New shaft and bearings. Will have it smoking back up the river by next weekend.
The bad part is that I will have to ride my son-in-law's extra Polaris Ultra. I hate listening to his tripple pipes!
