Hey fellow TY'rs. My buddies and I are heading up to Toivola, Michigan tomorrow just south of Houghton. So far there are two Vipers (one me) and a BB780 Viper w/ 136 kit and AD boiven skid and Eckholm tunnel.....(that's the one that stands out) and a couple Poo's. Maybe we'll cross paths. Two years ago I saw Boomer up there, but just missed each other. You couldn't miss his tricked out Viper. We'll probably frequent Pat's Yamaha several times.......LOVE TO RIDE THOSE DEMOS!! Looks like big lake effect snow the next two days!!! :letitsnow

see ya!!

I'll keep my eyes open! We are heading to Marquette monday, coming back Friday.I have a Viper S without the side decals,Cat skid, bar riser with chrome handgauards and a Chrome windy. I'll be with two Rev's, a Mach 1 and one other(not sure what he's riding)!

Hey Journeyman...

I'm not sure how long you and your buds will be staying, but myself and a buddy will be riding the area this Thursday-Saturday. We'll be staying in Mohawk, and riding north and south from there. Maybe we'll cross paths. Sounds like more snow is on the way for this week.

Just got back today. The conditions in the western UP are the best I have seen them in a long time. The groomers did a great job too. We got about 700 miles on. If not for troubles, we would have had a few hundred miles more for sure. I got to ride the Nytro demo at Pat's in Greenland. I liked it. Man that thing has an awesome holeshot off the line. Here are some photos of various things I took:

Thanks for the pics... looks like a good time. What kind of troubles did you have, your viper or other sleds?

My Viper was minimal. It did start hard with a warm motor 2 times and the guages went wacko a few times. I might put in a new stator over the summer. Also I was clutched too heavy for the conditions. After two days of sluggish backshifting and upshifting, I pulled the primary and pulled some washers from my HH's. First I noticed my silver secondary was sacked ,so I bought a new one at a dealer. That helped a little. You know, I have owned this thing so long ,I know by the seat of the pants how it should run. I can run 63.7 grams of weight in the arms back home in Minnesota, but up there I have to back off on the weight. I set it up with about 61.7 grams and I was in the sweetspot. Between 7-8000 rpms's it feels like a dirt bike where you are on the pipe. It's so snappy coming out of corners that the front end lifts when you hit it. When it's right, it will tach to 8500....then pull to 8700 on a long pull. Before it was taching to 8250,then creep slowly to 8500...but no more. You know what I found? After researching the elevations, the western UP varies from 700's to high 1300's in feet of elevation compared to around 750 at home. Plus the snow is more like sugar.

Back to your question. My buddies hopped up Viper quit and a couple days later he blew a wheel in his rear skid of his RX-1. Both issues set us back being he stayed with is sled while we got a trailer. Both times we were about 55-60 miles from our trailer. The wheel happened Thursday on our last day of riding and things were going so good. Both times we were heading to Lake Gogebic to run the lake. We never made it there this year for the first time ever.
