Ive got a 86 phazer that I'm finally rebuilding the engine afer about 4 years. The sled has been sitting that long...with fuel in the tank.
My question is, how labor intensive is it to pull the tank to flush the old gas out? Would I be better off flushing the tank in the sled? I have a little vaccuum pump that holds about 2 gallons, could i just suck out the old, fill with some new, slosh it around, draw the fuel out, repeat?

It is not a simple job to remove the gas tank on a Phazer (like many other things on a Phazer). You may be able to do it by just removing the fasteners from the fuel tank cover and raising it up. But I think you will have to remove it which means removing the handlebars and unhooking everything that is attached to them.
Raise the rear of the sled and suck all the gas out that you can and look in the tank (not with a match!). If it looks clean and there is no goo and everything was still liquid, just fill it with fresh gas. Blow out the lines also.
