Question for people regarding my 02 srx.
Im bored with the current setup : ) so thinking about gearing her down.
I have 8dn-20's with 4.5 in ea. hole
wh-wh-wh primary
red secondary 70 or 80
adv edge helix 48-40
1" predator with adj rods
I want to try a 23-40 so I can keep the current chain.
1st Question:
Whats been people's luck with gearing srx's down? I dont mind losing 5+mph on top end as long as I see very noticeable imporvemtn in acceleration.
2nd Question:
Im already reving at 86ish so with this gearing change, whats my best approach to getting rpms to 8500? I have some 5.5 grm rivets but will this be enough? Should I change to a steeper helix? what angles?

SHURE YOU WILL SEE BETTER ACCLERATION WHEN YOU CHANGE GEAR RATIO. BUT REMEMBER NO MORE LONG PULLS ON LAKES.

Tony, thanks for the reply.
The problem I have with the 8dn-20 weights and gearing down is that I will be maxed out with the 5.5 gram rivets in there and if she still over revs, I have no choice but to go to a steeper helix which leads me to my next problem. I have the 48-40 advant-edge helix, but far as i know they dont make helixes any more so what angle do I go to on a Dalton for example?

DON,T CHANGE YOUR INTINAL. AND SHURE DON,T WANT TO GO STEEPER ON FINISH. THAT WILL MAKE MATTERS WORSE. LOVE TO SEE YA TRY A 48/38. I HAD GREAT LUCK WITH MICRO BELMONT HELIX,s. YOUR GOING ABOUT THIS RIGHT WAY THOUGH CHANGEING CAMS. ALOT DON,T REALIZE YOU CAN REALLY TUNE YOUR CLUTCH SET-UP WITH DEFFERENT HELIX,s. 3:16 (yammie tony)
