I am looking to gear down my 01 srx 700 what combination will work with stock chain.
here s what i am looking at using:
21-40 ----
22-38 ----
21-39----
if I cannot use stock chain, can you tell me what chain I would need for each application

I just had the bolt snap off that holds the lower chaincase gear on, broke my chain and case. I've got a chaincase with 70 link chain and 23 38 gears on the way. My sled had the 22 38 gears in it with the 70 link chain. It looks like that gear combo should have the 68 link chain instead of the 70. My question is...does having the wrong length chain effect performance much?

Yes it does the more bend in the chain, the more power is needed to turn your gears. 68 link chain will work way better with the gears your going to run

Thats what I was thinking. the 22 38 gears with the 70 link were in it when I bought it, I'm going with the stock 23 38 70 link now.
