i got a 2004 sxviper mtn and i was checkin her over lastnight and noticed that i had a bolt cracked off in the front left motor mount! must of been like it ever since i got the sled 2 weeks ago! one bolt is cracked off in the case and one bolt was half ways out. i got weak after seeing this. dont have a clue on how to remove cracked off bolts in my case. a friend told me i can get it out with easy-out but i dont have that around here. i noticed that there is another place to put a bolt that size about a cm or 2 under the cracked off bolt. i was thinkin about tilting the inside part of the motor mount side ways and see if the hole will line up ith the motor mount! anyone have any sugestions or anything i shoudl know? or did anyone ever do this before? any help will be great!
Thanks
Thanks

I had the same thing happen. A friend of mine used a welder and tacked a nut on to the broken part. Make sure whoever does this is competent. I also saw a post on using a srx 3 bolt motor mount. Im assuming that is what the other hole is for.
If you can get at it with a welder weld a washer to the broken bolt, then weld a nut to the washer and carefully turn it out. Its easyer to weld a washer on first that way your not trying to weld down on the inside of a nut. Let it cool a bit then use wd-40 or something similer.

I have had this happen several times. Once the bolt is out get your hands on a set of SRX motor mounts. As mentioned above they use all three bolts. Make sure to lock tight the bolts too

hey guys
i think im gonna try easy out first! the bolt is flush with the case so can just put a washer or nut on it

I have heard of this problem a few times in the SX triples. My wife is riding around on an SX500R with a broken bolt on the front left side too. I replaced the other bolt and locktited it solid and I am going to what until spring to remove the bolt as I will have to pull the engine. She doesn't ride that hard anyway. I figure I'll be fine since it's her sled. I hope I'm not making a mistake by waiting to replace it.
I talked to a tech at my dealer and he says they have been able to remove them with easy outs.

The welding method works great. If you get to it right after you weld it, you should be able to spin it out by hand (wearing good welders gloves of course). This is an old mechanics trick for getting busted manifolds out of aluminum blocks.

i had the same problem, i had to pull my motor to get at my broken bolts. after that i put a torque limiter on. I HIGHLY suggest getting a torque limiter.

i had both bolts back out of my front clutch side mount also. both bolts just unthreaded themselves and fell in the belly pan, made the sled run like crap. later found both bolts in the bottom and loctited them back in. no more problems since.

What brand of torque limiter are you using? I just destroyed a maxximum Performance torque limiter this past weekend in the UP. Snapped the bolt off that has the rubber snubber on it, found the rubber snubber but, still have not been able to find the broken bolt. I will be replacing it with another brand of limiter in the near future but, would like to get some recommendations before buying one. Thanks in advance -Ed
