front w arm cracking on my 2001 srx

i noticed on the srx i bought used that the front w arm is starting to crack and that the bar that the limiting strap and front shock mount has both the tabs broken, is this pretty common on the srx? i think im going to weld em up friday are there any reinforcing pieces i should but in there, i was thinking of welding em right on the machine instead of pullin em because its so cold here:brr
 
yeah, pretty common. I would pull it, you could do a better job with it out and make sure there isnt any other damage. just a thought
 
The w arm cracking is common on all proaction sleds not real sure about the mount, i'd rip it out so u can get a better weld and keep sparks and slag away from your track. It's probably possible to do it on but it will be tight. There are a few threads on here that adress this problem
 
try a search on W arm,,common problem,tho i've never had one crack they
will, remove and weld,there's wright up's on the repair..
 
I have rewelded mine twice now......the first time I didn't enough time and sure enough it came back....I would pull it and reinforce it with some steel angle....make sure that you leave the side that the straps on alone. You can weld it and grind the welds but don't add any angle to it.....I did this and now I have to cut it off and reweld it for a third time. I also recommend doing it before it really breaks and is tweeked. The skid will never be the same and you will be on the side of the trail. Just my 2 cents...RR Oh and there is a ton of pics and info....do a search!
